Megadeth Announce Final Studio Album And Farewell World Tour

In an unexpected announcement made via their long serving, but tradtionally silent mascot, Vic. Megadeth have announced their next trip to the studio will be their last. Followed by one final farewell world tour. Before the thrash metal veterans and frontman, Dave Mustaine put the legendary band to rest.

Formed in 1983, Megadeth are the the youngest members of the so called ‘big four’ of thrash. As well as arguably the most prolific. Producing 16 studio albums, 6 live albums and 59 singles during their four decade long tenure as one of the most inflential artists in the genre. After spending most of his life at head of Megadeth however, Mustaine has decided he would rather bid the legendary band farewell on his own terms. To burn out rather than fade away, as it were.

“There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional.” Says Mustaine via press release. “Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.”

He then goes on to add, “We can’t wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it’s now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it’s now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it’s our last studio album. We’ve made a lot of friends over the years and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years. We have done something together that’s truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it’s played, and we changed the world. The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.”

Pre-orders for the bands as yet untitled seventeenth album; which will be released via Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label early next year, are scheduled to begin on Spetember 25th. With details of their upcoming world tour to follow shortly thereafter. Fans can currently register to receive updates at Megadeths official website to stay up to date on any forthcoming announcements.
