Download Festival TV 2020 Event Kicks Off This Evening With The Online Boardie Takeover

2020 is very much going to have a Download Festival weekend with a difference. With no trips to the hallowed Donington Park turf possible due to COVID-19 – the organisers and Download Festival powers that be are determined to give us the next best thing – an online event christened Download TV. The streams taking place over the next few days will see archive footage (including some never seen before – apart from by those who were there on the day at Donington), new interviews and features, and all kinds of other online events, taking place on the Download Festival YouTube channel and other social media accounts.

Kicking things off tonight (Thursday, 11th June 2020) is the annual Download Festival Boardie Takeover. Under normal circumstances, the boardie takeover would take over the Doghouse Tent in the Download Festival village on a Thursday, for a late afternoon and full evening of up and coming bands, selected by the Download Festival boardie community. With no physical takeover to attend, The Boardie Takeover, like the rest of Download 2020, is going virtual!

From 7pm tonight UK time on the Download Festival Facebook Page, those interested will be able to get to know the seven bands selected to be a part of the takeover – including two bands Rock Sins readers should be quite familiar with – Sertraline and Tomorrow Is Lost. The full list of bands involved are as follows:

Headliners Red Method
Seething Akira
Tomorrow Is Lost
Borders
Fury (UK)
Sertraline
Defences

You’ll be able to hear music from all of these bands and get to know them a bit better as part of the virtual boardie takeover. If you like what you see and hear, you’ll have plenty of time to check them out before next years’ festival!

Early bird and RIP tickets for the 2021 festival will go on sale tomorrow morning – we will confirm prices and details as soon as we have them.
