Twenty years after growing from a small club night in Leeds into the UK’s largest independent rock festival, Slam Dunk Festival 2026 is gearing up for its biggest celebration yet. Returning to Hatfield Park on 23 May and Temple Newsam in Leeds on 24 May. The 2026 edition is set to deliver a nostalgia-packed lineup, larger production than ever before, heavier stages, and the electric atmosphere that has made Slam Dunk a staple of the UK festival scene.
The Big Hitters
Much of the buzz surrounding this year’s festival centres on Good Charlotte, who are set to make their only European appearance of 2026. Fans can expect massive sing-alongs to classics like The Anthem, Girls & Boys, and Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous.
Not wanting to be overshadowed Taking Back Sunday will undoubtedly be one of the weekend’s biggest attractions. Few bands capture the emotional chaos and nostalgia of the 2000’s emo scene quite like they do.

Sublime will also make a rare UK appearance that’s likely to become one of the standout moments of the weekend. Their signature mix of ska, punk, and reggae feels perfectly suited to a sun-soaked Slam Dunk crowd.
Who You Absolutely Shouldn’t Miss
For pop-punk fans, this year’s lineup is stacked with must see sets. State Champs arrive as one of the strongest modern pop-punk live acts on the bill. Then there is Motion City Soundtrack continuing to ride the excitement surrounding their reunion shows. Set Your Goals feel destined to soundtrack some of the weekend’s biggest circle pits. Finally a festival stable in Zebrahead a band always guaranteed to deliver complete chaos, crowd surfing included.

For the emo veterans, there’s plenty of emotional damage waiting in the best possible way. Dashboard Confessional are perfectly suited for a sunset singalong. Hawthorne Heights will no doubt have the crowd screaming every word of “Ohio Is for Lovers,”. Saosin also are one of the most exciting bookings on the lineup for post-hardcore fans.
The heavier side of the festival looks equally stacked. Knocked Loose are arguably the most anticipated heavy act of the weekend and a huge reason the festival’s new heavy-stage concept feels so exciting. Currents continue to build a reputation as one of metalcore’s most consistently excellent live bands. Then there is Malevolence bringing that hometown intensity and pure aggression. Dying Wish are also rapidly becoming festival favourites thanks to their ferocious live performances.
Nostalgia plays a huge role in this year’s festival too. Cartel performing Chroma in full feels like a real scene throwback, while Deaf Havana celebrating Fools and Worthless Liars will hit hard for longtime fans. Not forgetting Tonight Alive are also returning to UK stages after years away. These trips down memory lane does give weekend a real time capsule feel. This definitely feels ripe for the elder emo’s out there.
New Bands to Look Out For
Origami Angel are bringing their chaotic blend of emo, math rock, and pop-punk energy, while Static Dress continue to build a reputation for explosive live shows. The Home Team are also worth a look with their huge hooks and genre-blurring tracks. Meanwhile, Unpeople are quickly becoming one of the UK’s most exciting new heavy acts thanks to their raw intensity and unpredictable sound.
Then there’s PRESIDENT who are already surrounded by huge online hype after their first festival appearance at Download last year. Not to mention certain possible members that we definitely haven’t figured out yet… you could almost say no one has busted it.

When is was first announced the lineup prompted a range of reactions. Some long-time fans were hoping for more mainstream headliners, but many others see this anniversary edition as a return to the festival’s roots. At its core, Slam Dunk has always been about community, chaos, and catharsis rather than chart dominance. That shared release from screaming every word back at your favourite band is what the festival is all about. Final tickets for Slam Dunk Festival 2026 are on sale on this link!
Don’t forget once the festival ends, the night doesn’t stop. The surge of excitement continues with official afterparties in Hatfield, London, and Leeds. The celebration then spills into the following week with many side shows across London, Birmingham, and Manchester.
There are also select European Slam Dunk festivals on offer for alternative fans on the continent. You can view the full info on the European festivals here.
