Architects have released a new song titled when we were young, which premiered on Clara Amfo’s BBC Radio 1 Future Sounds as the ‘Hottest Record in the World’. Accompanied by a 360-degree rotating video, the track follows on from the ground Architects paved on their 2021 release For Those That Wish To Exist.
The first new recording released since their UK number 1 album, “when we were young” has arrived just as Architects are embarking on a second UK arena tour. Starting on May 2nd in Leeds, the five-date tour sees them return to London’s Alexandra Palace accompanied by Sleep Token and Malevolence.
“when we were young is a song that recognises what is gained and what is lost as we get older” says drummer and lead songwriter Dan Searle. “as the world unfolds around us we can become overwhelmed by its endless complexity. when I was 20 I thought I had the whole thing sussed, today I’m pretty sure I’ll never understand reality. we lose our innocence as we age, and although fatalism and cynicism can creep in, we also begin to shift our focus toward gratitude for existence and for those that we love.”
