Can’t afford to go to Download? Still sad about Sonisphere? Well hold onto your skateboards because the UK hasn’t seen a festival like this in a long time. For the first time in over a decade (thirteen years to be precise), The Vans Warped Tour is hitting the UK! The UK version will take shape as a one off event at London’s Alexandra Palace on Saturday November 10th.
Bands you say? There are plenty of those announced, with twenty bands already announced to appear over four stages with the promise of many more to come. Headlining the event will be one of the UK’s biggest rock bands and Wales’ favourite sons Lostprophets, who will combine their appearance at Warped Tour UK with the second leg of their UK Weapons Tour across the UK throughout November (if you’d like to read about the first leg of Lostprophets’ Weapons tour please click here). Directly under Lostprophets will be one of the most marmite bands in all of metal and it’s sub-genres, Bring Me The Horizon. Whether you love them or hate them they are one of the most talked about bands of the last few years and Olli Sykes and co always come prepared to put on a show (and take some abuse from the haters).
Other highlights of the Warped Tour announcement are friends of Rocksins’ and Texan pop punk legends Bowling For Soup, fellow US pop punk veterans New Found Glory, Ska legends Less Than Jake, up and coming british metalcore band Bury Tomorrow, fellow Brits Architects and Japanese newcomers Crossfaith (complete with their brutal cover of The Prodigy’s Omen).
The remaining bands announced thus far are: 3OH!3, A Loss For Words, A Skylite Drive, The Acacia Strain, AWOLNATION, Blood On The Dance Floor (making their UK debut), Breathe Carolina, Dead Sara (another UK debut), Family Force 5, Man Overboard, Me Vs Hero, Middle Finger Salute, The Story So Far and Yashin.
In Warped Tour tradition the stages and running times for the bands will not be announced until the day of the show so arrive early or potentially miss out on seeing your favourite bands! With it being the Vans Warped Tour, they’ll also be the obligatory Skate championships taking place, as well as a merch village, a signing tent and many other things going on in addition to the four stages of music.
Lostprophets’ frontman Ian Watkins was asked to comment on the Prophets’ forthcoming headline appearance and was understandibly excited:
When we were growing up, we were always jealous of kids in the States who had the opportunity to go to Warped Tour. It was something we always wanted to do, and of course always wanted to play. Now we find out it’s making its way to the UK, and to make things even sweeter, we’ve been asked to headline. To say we’re honoured and excited is an understatement.
Tickets will cost £40 plus booking fees and postage and are onsale now through the official website at https://vanswarpedtouruk.com/ as well as the usual online locations.
