It was the most eagerly anticipated album of the band’s career so far as fans have been waiting to get their hands on it for months, and once again the UK rock music buying public have spoken with their money. Alter Bridge’s fourth album Fortress has landed on the UK album charts at a very impressive number six, just missing out on the top five.
Fortress, which has won critical acclaim across virtually the entire UK rock & metal press world (including from ourselves, you can read our Fortress review here), is Alter Bridge’s best UK chart success thus far, beating previous album ABIII which clocked in at number nine. Fortress has also copied ABIII by topping the UK rock albums chart.
There were also three other new rock & metal entries in this week’s Top 40. Metallica’s OST from their film Through The Never came in at number 36, UK rock veterans Status Quo’s latest offering “The Frantic Four: Reunion 2013” was once place behind Metallica at 37. Finally, the new album from UK rockers Kids In Glass Houses “Peace” charted at number 39.
Alter Bridge will be back in the UK to celebrate their success with their fans very shortly, as their headline UK arena tour (with special guests Shinedown and Halestorm) begins next week! A reminder of the dates can be found below:
