Iron Maiden Announced As First Headliner For 2016 Download Festival

Posted by: Jamie Giberti on 19th October 2015

The first headliner of Download 2016 has been announced, and it is none other than the mighty Iron Maiden. The British legends will be returning to Donington following the release of their epic studio album ‘Book Of Souls’ last month. We cannot wait to see them fly the flag for British Heavy Metal on Sunday night at Download!

Frontman Bruce Dickinson will fly Iron Maiden, their crew and their entire stage production to Download on Ed Force One. Speaking of their return to Donington, Dickinson comments:

Download is a very special place for us. Not just because it’s always great to play on home turf but because there’s a truly unique vibe there, it’s the very heart of England and of Metal, so a fitting place for Iron Maiden! The crowd is always fiercely passionate and the whole band feeds off that famous Donington energy. We aim to deliver a really memorable show for our fans to close the 2016 Festival. Although this is our sixth time headlining at Castle Donington, it’s the first time we’ve been able to land Ed Force One right on the doorstep of the Festival site!

The first batch of early bird tickets for the 2016 Download Festival have already sold out, more than two weeks ahead of when the early bird sales period was going to end. Some RIP packages are still on sale, and all the additional info about standard camping and arena tickets and passes can be found at www.downloadfestival.co.uk/tickets. Follow the Download team (including the Download Dog) on Twitter at @DownloadFest for up-to-the-minute latest updates, and stay tuned to Rock Sins for the next headliner announcement!
