Video Of The Week (30th September 2019)

Rock Sins Video Of The Week

It’s been awhile since we’ve run a video of the week contest, but it’s back with a bang! Here’s the latest selection of videos for our lovely readers to pick a winner from.

Our opening selection this week has been around for a little while, but we love it so much we had to include. The stand out track from Killswitch Engage’s blistering new album Atonement, The Signal Fire sees former KSE frontman Howard Jones reunite with his old band mates for a track that is, well, pure fire. The video is a joy to behold, purely for the amount of fun they all seem to be having together.

Essex alt-rockers Sun Arcana have been on our radar for awhile, and they’ve just resurfaced with their hooked filled new single Hard To Be Around. Taking from their upcoming new EP Just Another Dream Away (releasing on the 15th of November), if this is the first taste of the EP, we can’t wait to hear what’s next! The video for the track is a simple but effective accompaniment to the song, making it an excellent package overall.

SeeYouSpaceCowboy is a name that we hold our hands up and admit we hadn’t heard of before a few days ago. Their new album The Correlation Between Entrance and Exit Wounds has impressed a lot of people, and we think the latest single from the album, Late December, will do the same. There’s some excellent subtle little touches in the video to accompany a barrel full of riffs and some of the harshest screamed vocals you’ll hear anytime soon.

We wrote about it on its own last week, but we simply had to include Our Hollow, Our Home’s emotional rollercoaster of a track, Parting Gift in this video of the week contest. The video is one of the most powerful you’ll see this year (or any other year). With the proceeds from the single going to Macmillan Cancer Support, what more reason do you need to get behind it?

Feeling like a touch of The Fox God goes to Bollywood, Babymetal have unleashed their new single Shanti Shanti Shanti ahead of the release of their impending new album Metal Galaxy. As with so many of their singles, you may soon well find yourself singing it over and over, whether you regard that as a good thing or not. For the doubters, we saw them at Download 2018 and they firmly won us over! Check out Metal Galaxy on October 11th.

Returning closer to home, London metalcore bludgeoners Confessions Of A Traitor have dropped a blistering new single, Myra, which features a guest turn from Fit For A King’s Ryan Kirby. The video sees them sonically annihilate a church, with the tracks few melodic interludes seeming like they belong in the setting far more than the rest of the track. Their debut album, Guided, is out on the 18th of October.

Last but not least this week, and shortly set to dance the dance supporting ISSUES in Glasgow, Scottish metallers Dancing With Dakota bring a strong mental health message on their new single Voices. Featuring wrestler Davey Blaze in an emotionally visceral video, this is another impressive single to catch our ears recently.

So there we have it. Seven songs battling for your votes, and only one can win. The vote will close at 12pm midday UK time on Sunday the 6th of October. Get voting!
