The Download Festival 2022 team have added another twenty bands to their already huge line up for next year! What’s more, they’ve also given us plenty more info to get our heads round; They’ve announced the day splits for the bands currently booked. Lets’ take a look at the new additions and where we can find them!
Kicking off with Friday at Donington Park, A Day To Remember return to the main stage sub-headline slot they were going to have at Download 2021 before the festival’s cancellation due to COVID-19. They are joined on the main stage by fellow new additions Black Veil Brides and UK metalcore favourites Bury Tomorrow.
Taking to the second stage on Friday (as well as returning to headline the Dogtooth Tent on Sunday night), Alter Bridge / Slash frontman Myles Kennedy is bringing his solo band Myles Kennedy and Company to Download 2022. US white hot pop punk outfit Meet Me At The Altar are going to make their UK festival debut at Download 2022, and they’ll be joined on the Avalanche Stage by fellow new additions Normandie and Gender Roles.
The Saturday of Download Festival 2022 looks set to go down in history as “one of those Download days”, with fans facing some very difficult choices in who to see across all stages. US arena rock mainstays Shinedown return to Download next year for their biggest slot at the festival to date, under headliners Iron Maiden and sub-headliners Deftones. Over on the second stage, headliners Megadeth will be more than ably supported by prog metal favourites Mastodon and the unstoppable force of Code Orange. Ice Nine Kills have also joined the Donington Party, while heralded performances at the Download Pilot and at Bloodstock Open Air 2021 have seen Malevolence rewarded for this years’ efforts with a slot on the second stage of Download 2022.
Over at the Avalanche Stage, Creeper return to follow up their incredible set at the Download Pilot. Having opened the Download Pilot, Death Blooms are also rewarded with a slot at Download next year on the Dogtooth Stage, while fellow Pilot rabble rouser Cassyette is on board for the ride as well, kicking things off on the second stage for Saturday. Seattle punks Dragged Under are also joining Saturday’s line up, and last but certainly not least, US death metal veterans Obituary will also bring their suitcase full of riffs across the Atlantic for Download 2022.
Sunday’s additions are less in number, but no less mighty. Volbeat return to their place on the main stage line up from Download 2021 – and that run of Rise Against, Volbeat and KoRn looks a jolly good time to us! Over on the second stage, Baroness bring their musical powers to Donington once again, and US feminist punks THICK will make their debut in the Dogtooth. And, as mentioned above, Myles Kennedy will headline the Dogtooth Stage with a very special acoustic performance!
All of the above bands join headliners KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro, and the 70 bands previously announced on the line up for the 2022 Download Festival. The festival takes place on the 10th – 12th June 2022 (campsite open 8th – 13th). Early bird tickets for Download 2022 are currently on sale until the end of September (get your tickets on this link). From the 1st of October the prices will increase.
