Neue Deutsche Härte legends Rammstein have dropped the first single from their upcoming 8th studio album. With touring put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic, the sextet once again united with producer Olsen Involtini at La Fabrique Studios in Saint Rémy de Provence to record Zeit (translation: “Time”), the follow up to their much anticipated untitled 7th album in 2019.

The dramatic, melancholy title track was released this week with an epic music video directed by Robert Gwisdek, which leans heavily into its themes of time and mortality, showing the members of the band at different stages of life as the sands of time pass around them. As with all Rammstein videos, it is not for the feint of heart with some graphic scenes of childbirth included, so viewer discretion is advised. The song has been released on digital and physical formats as a single, with B-sides including remixes by Ólafur Arnalds and Robot Koch.

While a full tracklist has yet to be unveiled, pre-order details on Amazon reveal that 11 tracks are expected to appear on the effort, which will be released on 29 April. Meanwhile, a 6 panel digipak edition has also been announced, with a 56 page booklet included. The band will be touring around Europe and North America this summer, with stops in Coventry and Cardiff on the 26th and 30th June.
