Fozzy are one of those bands who over the last decade or so have straddled the fence between hard rock and metal very effectively. With The Duke, Rich Ward and Chris Jericho as the co-captains of the band, they’ve come out with some great singles and a couple of really great albums (and several more…
With sharp tongues and sharp objects, ‘The Canyon’ is The Used’s shattering new phase. The Utah canyons hold the fondest memories for frontman Rob McCracken and bassist Jeph Howard, but also more recently the most devastating of all – a best friend took his life at the same canyon. The band’s seventh album is no…
With the release of 2013’s Strangers Only, Ohio quartet My Ticket Home propelled themselves from metalcore obscurity to one of the key bands in the emerging “nu metalcore” scene. Fast forward 4 years, with a signing to Spinefarm Records along the way, and we now have unReal, the group’s third effort and first real attempt…
In my personal opinion Cradle of Filth are one of the most underrated and underappreciated bands in metal today. They have been consistently brilliant for the better part of a quarter of a century but still remain overlooked. It is mind-boggling to me, but with that said their latest album Cryptoriana (The Seductiveness of Decay)…
Trivum are a band who feel like they are at a crossroads. With 2011’s In Waves having been their most acclaimed album since their breakthrough on Ascendancy, to some they then lost some of that momentum with Vengeance Falls (2013) and Silence In The Snow (2015). What shape do Trivium take in 2017 with The…
Mastodon never do anything by halves. Whether they are dropping mind-bending concept albums, or casually just putting out one of the albums of the year this past March, they are always keeping people on their toes. So some six months after their blistering album ‘Emperor of Sand’ they have decided to grace us all with…
Paradise Lost have been purveyors of all things dark and gloomy for nearly 30 years now, but you’d never know it. Apart from a few patchy moments in the 90s, they have rarely put a foot wrong, and they are currently on a winning streak of 3 back to back stellar albums, with 2012’s Tragic…
Sometimes when new bands form from the ashes of others, there is the fear that one of two things will happen, that either they will coast by on former glories or they will boil down to being nothing more than the some of their parts rather than being an innovative whole. This is where Prophets…
Savage (Songs From A Broken World) is Gary Numan’s 21st album and the follow up to 2013’s Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind). In many ways, it feels much like a spiritual sequel to that album, at least conceptually. This feels like it could be the second part of a loose trilogy that may possibly…
When you get handpicked by Clutch for their label, various tours and basically a fucktonne (scientific term) of praise it’s fair to say you’ve got something about you. Up to this point Lionize have been consistent in their studio output and their live shows alike, with the energy of their gigs generally coming across well….
