Video Of The Week (9th October) – Divides, Obey The Brave, ASIWYFA, Huxtable and Phoenix Calling

Rock Sins Video Of The Week

Somehow, it’s been almost a month since our last video of the week, so we thought we better do something about that. Here’s five brand new videos vying for the crown of the latest Rock Sins video of the week contest!

Kicking things off this week are one of the UK’s hottest rock properties at the moment, Scottish upstarts Divides. Their new video for Catalyst is a striking black and white affair with the odd bit of colour, and an absolutely huge song to go along with it. Watch out for their new EP Embers at the end of November.

Recently in the UK tearing things up across the country, Canadian metalic hardcore merchants Obey The Brave show everyone exactly what their live show, as well as life on the road, is about with the video for Mad Season. An apt title, considering the chaos that can be seen, both in the video and at any of their shows in general! Into the pit, or stay clear, the choice is yours!

Who likes crazy dancing puppets? If anyone HASN’T put their hands up for this, they probably aren’t much fun at a party. What we’re sure of is that Huxtable definitely would be judging by the video for their new track Super Toxic, off their recently released EP Change Shape Future. This video is definitely up there for creativity, and the song isn’t half bad either.

Phoenix Calling are our next entry this week with a very powerful video and a great track to match. The video for Time Runs Out highlights the increase in homelessness in the UK in recent years in a very moving, powerful fashion, backed up by a really great single. Keep an eye out for these guys, who have just announced their next album Our Lost Hearts will be released in Mid November. If the rest is as good as this, they’ll go far.

Irish instrumental post-rock wizards And So I Watch You From Afar are our final band for this weeks’ video of the week contest. Their new album, The Endless Shimmering lands in just a couple of weeks and if this song is anything to go by, “ASIWYFA” are back on fine form. The video is a typically abstract piece, but no less than one would expect for one of the best post-rock outfits of the last ten years.

So there we have it. Five brand new videos, only one can win. The vote will close at 12pm midday UK time on the 16th of October. Get voting!
