Drug Church turn the Electric Ballroom into beautiful chaos!
Drug Church’s biggest headline show yet feels every bit as chaotic as you’d hope. The Electric Ballroom is rammed, sweaty and in near-constant motion as the band tear through their abrasive collision of hardcore aggression, jagged riffs and huge melodic hooks.
It’s a barrier show, so there’s no stage diving tonight, but that hardly puts a brake on the chaos. Instead, a constant slurry of crowdsurfers rolls towards the front while the pit churns beneath them. Patrick Kindlon prowls the stage, delivering every song with his trademark mix of menace, humour and barely contained energy, looking completely at home in the mayhem.
What’s most impressive is how naturally Drug Church have scaled up without losing the scrappy intensity that got them here. The songs sound enormous in the Ballroom, but the performance still feels immediate and unpredictable, with each riff seemingly provoking another surge from the crowd.
For their biggest headline show so far, they don’t try to make the moment feel grand or polished. They make it feel sweaty, volatile and completely out of control. Judging by the state of the room by the end, that’s exactly how everyone wanted it.
