It’s time for new Trivium! One of our favourite bands here at Rock Sins, the Florida metal quartet have released their first new material in almost a year in the shape of new single Dead Inside Of Me. Always a band keen to mix things up, Trivium have tried out some new things on Dead Inside Of Me, especially when it comes to frontman Matt Heafy’s vocals. Reminiscent a little of some of the things they tried on Vengeance Falls, Matt uses a variety of approaches on this song, which starts with a kick ass bass riff from Paolo Gregoletto.
On the more radio friendly end of the Trivium spectrum, Dead Inside Of Me looks to be the beginning of a new album cycle for Trivium. More details have been promised soon. In the meantime, check out the very cool video for Dead Inside of Me below:
Here’s Paolo to explain more about Dead Inside Of Me:
‘Dead Inside Of Me’ was a song that came together at the end of a long day of writing new music last summer. It started with a riff I’d had kicking around for five or six years called ‘Slam,’ looping over a simple groove. A lot of the most fun song ideas come from blending two contrasting ideas together. Take a death metal riff and play it like a stadium rock song. Let the screaming and singing weave together until they feel like one voice. Being able to explain the idea that simply as the song was coming together helped keep us laser-focused and on track to see the vision through to the end.”
The song was loosely inspired by the Japanese concept of honne and tatemae — the tension between your true inner feelings and the mask you present to the outside world to hide them.
Away from their new single, a tour that dreams are many of for many of us has come true. Fifteen years after Metal Hammer’s Defenders Of The Faith III, Trivium and In Flames are once again teaming up for an enormous UK and EU tour!
In the UK, Florida metallers Trivium will take the headline role. Gothenburg Sound pioneers In Flames will serve as their very special guests. In Europe, it’s a full co-headline tour, exact details TBC (e.g. whether headliners rotate nightly or not). In Scandinavia, In Flames will headline with Trivium fulfilling the special guest role. Sounds like a fair deal to us (much as we would have loved a full In Flames headline set here in the UK too)!
The two bands recently announced plans to tour together in the US. This prompted a slew of requests for the tour to take place on this side of the Atlantic. Teasers started appearing on social media hinting something was coming, and then blam! The tour was announced, with pre-sales starting 24 hours later. So, yes, the tour is on sale right now (we’ve been a little tardy in getting the news written up). Joining Trivium and In Flames on this trek will be metalcore/deathcore rising stars Paleface Swiss, and Danish prog metal outfit VOLA. The full list of tour dates follows below:
