Fear Factory Announce Departure of Byron Stroud & New Bassist

Industrial metal legends Fear Factory have announced in the last few hours via their Facebook page that they have parted ways with their bassist of the last several years Byron Stroud (formerly of Strapping Young Lad, amongst other projects). Wasting no time, singer Burton C Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares have announced Byron’s replacement and it is none other than former Chimaira bassist Matt DeVries. DeVries, who has also played for Six Feet Under joins the band immediately as they are working on the follow up album to their 2010 comeback Mechanize.

Burton and Dino made a short statement via the band’s Facebook where they sounded pretty pleased about the prospects of having Matt DeVries onboard in the Fear Factory camp:

“we are very excited to have Matt playing bass for Fear Factory. We feel he is a great addition to our touring line-up. He has been a friend for a very long time and he is a great musician who will be a perfect instrument in the FF machine.”

Fear Factory will return to the UK in June to play the tenth anniversary of the Download Festival at Donington Park. For more rock & metal news including any further news on Fear Factory and their new album please stay tuned to Rocksins.com.
