Achievements like this are usually reserved for pop royalty – your Beyonce’s, your Lady Gaga’s, or for indie rock such as Coldplay or Snow Patrol that most readers of this website wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. Fortunately, we are very happy to report that a certain band from Franklin, Tennessee has scored a smash chart topping double.
Paramore, armed with their brand new album “Paramore”, took their position atop the UK album chart throne for this week on Sunday night, knocking off none other than Mr Suave Justin Timberlake himself from the number one slot. What’s more, they outsold JT by more than 2 to 1. Paramore’s self titled album is their second UK number one album on the trot, having reached the top with last album Brand New Eyes as well. As with their previous album, their self titled effort has been released through the Fueled By Ramen label.
As well as their album chart success, their latest single, the fantastic “Still Into You” charged it’s way into the singles Top 40, climbing over fourty places to check in at number 26.
A couple of days later, having sold 106,000 copies in the US Billboard Top 200, they also topped the US album charts as well. Needless to say, for a band who had some serious speculation hanging over their future a couple of years ago, this is the perfect two fingers up at the doubters. Well done Hayley, Jeremy and Taylor, and keep up the success. This is the latest in a long line of successes for rock and metal artists in the UK charts this year, so let’s keep buying our music and keep this up.
We’ll leave you with the awesome lyric video for “Still Into You”, Enjoy!
