Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2015 Adds Six More Bands In Two Batches

Things have been so busy recently here at Rock Sins HQ we’ve been a little bit tardy when it comes to updates on one of our favourite festivals. That’s right, Bloodstock Open Air have made not one but two recent announcements, so we’re doing a bit of catching up. The BOA team have added another six bands to an already impressive line up for 2015, so lets see what we need to tell our readers about.

Flying the homegrown talent flag proudly as the highlight of the first announcement are the mighty Orange Goblin. For their 2015 return to Bloodstock Open Air Orange Goblin will be performing on the Ronnie James Dio main stage. Deservedly so with the momentum around the band rarely higher in their whole career than it is right now courtesy of another cracking album in the shape of Back From The Abyss – Orange Goblin are a band everyone who likes groove and riffs need in their life.

Also onboard for BOA 2015 are Norwegian black metal outfit 1349. There isn’t a more appropriate festival home on the planet than Bloodstock for the band named after the year the black death hit their native country, and their music is equally as bleak. Catton Hall should welcome them with open arms and raised horns. Another band who are sure to raise excitement are Californian traditional metal outfit Armored Saint – possibly best known to some as long time Anthrax singer John Bush’s “other band”. Armored Saint are a great band in their own right and they’re back once again, and hitting Bloodstock for the first time in 2015.

The second announcement from a few days ago was headed up by thrash metal legends Overkill. With their latest album White Devil Armory pleasing fans worlwide, Overkill have once again shown they’re as good as any other thrash band on the planet – and they’ll be proving it once again at Bloodstock 2015. Their frontman Bobby Ellsworth had this to say:

“We are loading the BIG guns and setting sail for the UK this summer! Be warned! The island is in danger, it’s a White Devil Army….Lets make BLOODSTOCK 2015 a bloodbath!”

2015 will see the third appearance at Bloodstock Open Air of Finnish folk metal specialists Ensiferum. Following on from appearances in 2006 and 2010, BOA 2015 will see Ensiferum’s most high profile Bloodstock performance yet. It’s also clearly a very special show in the band’s eyes, as they’ve said this about returning to Catton Hall:

“It feels really awesome to return to mighty Bloodstock again! There are so many great memories from previous years and now it’s time to make bunch of new ones. This gig will be really special because we head to Bloodstock with brilliant set of golden oldies and nutcracking metal anthems from our new album! So see you all there! Mosh till you drop!”

Last but not least at all, Austrian death metal purveyors Belphegor will make their second Bloodstock appearance after their BOA debut two years ago. With their latest record Conjuring The Dead winning over even the hardest to please critics, Belphegor are set to make a lasting impression to the metal masses at Bloodstock 2015.

All the above bands join headliners Within Temptation and Rob Zombie along with special guests Opeth and a glut of other great bands such as Ihsahn and Cannibal Corpse on the 2015 Bloodstock Open Air Festival line up. There are still a few but an ever diminishing number of cheaper early bird tickets which can be snapped up at the following link – https://bloodstock.seetickets.com/event/bloodstock-2015/catton-park/809956 – priced at £120 plus fees. These are projected to sell out within the next week so if you’re planning on treating someone (maybe even yourself?) for Christmas you will need to get a move on if you want to save some money on the ticket(s).

Bloodstock 2015 will take place from the 6th – 9th of August 2015 at it’s usual home of Catton Hall in Derbyshire. Stay tuned for further announcements including the final headliner for BOA 2015!
