It’s been nearly a month since our last video of the week contest where prog genre benders Vola came out on top – oops, where did September go? Not to worry though, we’ve got a bumper edition to make up for our tardiness. Eight brand new videos (including another great animated offering from our last winners) with everything from falling down houses and beautiful animation to, well, lots of bouncing. There truly is something for everyone.
Kicking things off this week are US groove rockers Red Fang, with their homage to the film Predator in the video for Shadows. It’s a hilarious nod to one of the 80’s great films, though we don’t think Arnie ever had a coolbox when he was dealing with the Predator!
Next up, there’s a double dose of rock from both sides of the pond from two very different bands; The arena filling Alter Bridge’s new album The Last Hero is almost upon us, so we’ve prompted for it’s first single Show Me A Leader and it’s accompanying video as our second choice this week. Meanwhile, Bedfordshire rockers SEASONS show why they’re one of the hottest talents in the UK from the last twelve months with the catchy as hell Empire, filmed in a derelict house!
The metal quota this week is filled by another homegrown talent – Confessions Of A Traitor, with their new video for Illuminating The Night, which was premiered with Metal Hammer earlier this week. Maxing out the fun factor are the lovely Lounge Kittens, with their cover of System Of A Down’s Bounce. Having taken to St Pancras station with a bunch of spacehoppers last week to promote their album launch – the video is a slightly more traditional affair, but still tons of fun.
A double dose of Scandinavian involvement this week is also included; Firstly our previous winners Vola are back with another wonderful animated video, this time for the track Stray The Skies. It’s a bit different to Gutter Moon but still very compelling. Meanwhile their soon to be tour buddies Katatonia are also included with their brand new video for Shifts. Long term favourites of ours throughout the history of Rock Sins, we think there may well be a few votes for this one.
Rounding things off this week are pop punk favourites Good Charlotte with another offering from their comeback album Youth Authority called Life Changes. If you want to choose The Madden Brothers and friends as your video of the week, you know what to do – just click the appropriate button below.
The vote closes at 12pm midday on the 27th of September. So you’ve got a full seven days to get voting for your favourites and may the best video (or the most hardcore fanbase) win!
