Two days before their 21st anniversary, and less than 12 miles from their hometown, My Chemical Romance brought the US leg of their reunion tour to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for an evening that proved them still top of their game. With party hats along the front row for bassist Mikey Way’s birthday, the band opened on The Foundations Of Decay, Na Na Na, and Give ‘Em Hell, Kid in a setlist that traversed their much beloved discography including classics Teenagers, Welcome To The Black Parade, I’m Not Okay and Helena. As charismatic as ever, Gerard Way was in fine voice beneath the band’s stage set of a destroyed city, with a backing of 19,000 impassioned voices matching him lyric for lyric.
