Bearded Theory is back. From 20th – 24th May 2026, Catton Park, Derbyshire will once again transform into a hub of music, creativity, and community. Known for its independent spirit and genre-bending lineups, the festival promises a bank holiday that blends the laid-back vibe of Glastonbury with its own independent, grassroots spirit.
This year’s first wave of acts promises something for every corner of the alternative spectrum. Alt-rock legends Pixiescelebrate their 40th anniversary, while genre-defying Skunk Anansie are set to deliver electrifying perofmrnaces. Sheffield favourites Reverend and the Markers return with their signature mix of indie rock and sharp social commentary. Post-punk royalty Peter Hook & The Light, devised from influential Joy Division and New Order.
The festival’s energy continues across the lineup. Expect the political bite of Big Special, the noise-rock chaos of Fat Dog, and the folk-punk intensity from Ferocious Dog. Riotous punk acts Lambrini Girls and Panic Shack bring unforgettable live energy, while Bristol’s Getdown Services deliver sardonic charm. Cult comedy-folk favourites The Bar-Stweard Sons of Val Doonican return, and boundary-pushing fusion comes from underground rap-rockers Senser.
The festival doesn’t stop at rock and punk. Dancefloor legends Utah Saints, Leeroy Thornhill (ex-The Prodigy), and Phil Hartnoll (Orbital) return for rave nostalgia, while drum-and-bass icon Goldie keeps the beats moving. Ska pioneer Neville Staple (The Specials) and reggae legends Toots and the Maytals ft. Leba Hibbert add timeless grooves. Rising acts like Venus Grrrls, Heartworms, and LIINES ensure the festival continues to champion new voices alongside established names.
Comedian Stewart Lee, who returned to the festival after a triumphant debut last year, praised its spirit by saying, “Bearded Theory reminded me of what festivals used to be like, where a community of actual music fans come together to enjoy the music they love.”
