Symphonic metal icons Kamelot have returned to announce details of their upcoming new album Dark Asylum! Landing on August 28th 2026 via Napalm Records, the new album will see Kamelot explore some darkened themes like never before. Always fantastic storytellers within their songs and albums, Dark Asylum tells the story of a Neo-Victorian world, centred around RavenHill Asylum. A former cathedral, it has been “repurposed into a place where science, faith, and madness uneasily coexist”.
The new album features a variety of special guests, most notably including Tobias Sammet of Avantasia fame and Eluveitie’s Lea-Sophie Fischer. To learn more about their new album, we’ll hand over to Kamelot founder and guitarist Thomas Youngblood:
Dark Asylum follows a soul trapped inside a world of masks, fractured memories, and psychological torment, wandering the endless halls of RavenHill in search of truth, identity, and redemption. What begins as a descent into darkness gradually transforms into a journey of awakening, where beneath the fear, illusion, and chaos lies the possibility of healing, hope, and ultimately a path out of the shadows into Sanctuary. The album explores the duality between despair and salvation, blurring the lines between reality and madness through theatrical storytelling, haunting atmospheres, and deeply emotional themes.

Kamelot will return to the UK for two shows this November as part of the Dark Asylum World Tour. They’ll be at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on November 1st, and Manchester’s O2 Ritz two days on November 3rd. They will be supported on all dates by Exit Eden and Temperance.
