During Metallica’s triumphant 30th anniversary celebrations, they played four shows at the Filmore in San Francisco, California for members of their fan club, playing totally different setlists to what they would normally with rarities, covers, special guests and generally had a week long partay. At each one of these four shows, a never before heard Metallica song was performed.
These four songs were songs that were recorded during the writing and recording sessions for the last Metallica album Death Magnetic (Lulu doesn’t count) but didn’t make the final cut of the album. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to the new songs at the shows, Metallica decided to release the four songs as an E.P, that was originally only available for Download via iTunes. However, in response to request from the Metallica fans, the band announced plans to release the E.P called Beyond Magnetic as a physical CD, and it hits the shops today!
The track listing for Beyond Magnetic is as follows:
Hate Train
Just A Bullet Away
Hell and Back
Rebel of Babylon
Beyond Magnetic is available from today at HMV in the UK and anywhere else around the world that still sells CD’s! For more rock & metal news including any further updates from Metallica keep checking Rocksins for developments.
