Hot off the presses, we have the latest news from the world of Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2013 with two new bands, and also some catch up on some rather important news from last week that we didn’t manage to publish.
Last week, Bloodstock announced their second headliners for the 2013 edition of the festival and it is none other than Virginia’s finest Lamb of God. With their first UK headlining festival appearance, Randy, Mark, Chris, Willie and John will be closing the Ronnie James Dio stage on the Saturday night of the festival and are guaranteed to put on one hell of a groove based metal show. Also announced alongside Lamb of God last week were one of Scandanavia’s finest metal exports (and that’s saying something), the mighty Amorphis, who will be a UK exclusive at next’s year Bloodstock. When asked about coming back to the UK for the festivities at Catton Hall, Amorphis’s guitarist Esa Holopainen had this to say:
“Greetings from Hell-sinki’s 5K studio where Amorphis is finishing recording our forthcoming 11th album. Our agent gave us the great news that we are booked for Bloodstock Festival 2013! Bloodstock has become one of the best European metal events, so it’s an honour to be part of the festival again. We promise to put on an epic show, so keep the horns up and see you at Bloodstock next summer!”
So that’s the catch up. Onto today’s brand new announcement, with the news that the kings of the circle pit and unofficial world record holders Devildriver will be making their Bloodstock debut in 2013. A band who can always be relied on to be one of the highlights of any festival they appear on, Devildriver are looking forward to tearing up Catton Hall. Their frontman Dez Fafara seems quite happy about the announcement too:
“DevilDriver is fucking stoked to be coming to Bloodstock!! We are thrilled to playing alongside our good friends in Lamb Of God, and no doubt the weekend is going to be insane! Grab a ticket and come get in the pit! DevilDriver won’t let ya down!”
If that’s not enough, then Bloodstock have also seen fit to add another band from Lamb of God’s home territory of Virginia to the line up with thrashers Municipal Waste announcing their return to BOA. Guitarist Ryan Waste is very fond of the festival and seems quite pleased with the other bands announced so far as well:
“We are bloody chuffed to rock the BOA once again. It was my favourite UK festival to date and now that King Diamond and Accept have been added, I’m more excited than ever!”
All of those bands join already announced Friday headliner King Diamond, special guests Anthrax, Accept, Dark Funeral, Firewind and Fozzy! Early bird tickets are still available for £100 but are flying off the proverbial shelves so if you want one (or more), head over to https://www.bloodstock.uk.com/shop/products/3-day-tickets-1-1 and snap them up while you still can.
