The gun has been fired for the beginning of the 2015 metal festival announcements and Bloodstock are first out of the starting blocks with an impressive announcement to kick things off!

The team at Bloodstock Open Air are very happy to announce that Dutch symphonic metallers Within Temptation will be headlining Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2015 on the Saturday night of the event. The performance will be Within Temptation’s only UK show anywhere in 2015. Having been warmly received in a high profile slot at Download 2014, Within Temptation are taking things up another level with their first UK major festival headline slot. Their frontwoman, Sharon den Adel, had this to say:

“We’re thrilled to play BLOODSTOCK again! We had such a great time before and can’t wait to take ‘Hydra’ to the stage at Catton Park. It’s a really exciting time for us right now and we’re looking forward to bringing the fire!!”

Appearing as special guests to Within Temptation on the Saturday are former BOA headliners themselves in the shape of the mighty Opeth! Sweden’s favourite prog metal exports new album Pale Communion last week gave the band their highest UK chart position ever and the band will be returning to Catton Hall for Bloodstock next year for more good times with their ever growing UK fanbase. The always entertaining Mikel Akerfeldt had this to say about Opeth returning to Bloodstock:

“We’re happy to confirm that we’ll be back at the BLOODSTOCK festival next year! I don’t know how many times we’ve played there now, but it’s a real great place, a nice festival run by nice people. Too bad it’s like….a year or so away!?”
