Damnation, the brilliant one day heavy music festival held annually at Leeds University, has reached its tenth year. Each Damnation festival is a unique event, with the only common thread being the Damnation regulars who see the festival as an opportunity to witness some of the best extreme bands on the planet. The 2014 festival is stronger that ever, with the organisers pulling out all of the stops for the 10th festival on Saturday November 1st.
This year Damnation is being headlined by the mighty Bolt Thrower. As if that wasn’t enough, our Lisa Fox will be there to cover it for RockSins, and it is going to be sweet!
2014 has been a ground-breaking, redefining year for doom, almost overriding the fact that many of the genre’s female-fronted outfits have produced some mesmerising music for a couple of years now. Leeds quintet Black Moth will the first mosh pit we hit. UK hardcore heroes Stampin’ Ground will be returning to Damnation after ripping the place to pieces in 2006. This band is not to be one to miss after promising that this time they won’t (intentionally) try and break the stage. Returning UK metal heroes Raging Speedhorn will follow Stampin’ Ground. Reuniting after six years apart the six piece ware sure to give us one of the best sets of the day. Then its on to British heavy metal heavyweights Orange Goblin will make their triumphant return to Damnation. If catchy anthemic metal is your thing then look no further than this seminal British band. Get a beer, bang your head and prepare for 50 minutes of the best metal anthems ever produced. Excitement levels will be as high for Anaal Nathrakh, whose stage shows are the stuff of legend. Then there’s death metal titans Cannibal Corpse who will be headlining the Terrorizer stage.
Rounding the day off in terrific fashion will be UK death metal titans Bolt Thrower, who are doing an exclusive performance at this year’s festival. Promising to be one of the year’s highlights the Warhammer inspired five piece will certainly bring the pain to Damnation.
