Video Of The Week (24th August) – Beartooth, Dream State and Much More

Rock Sins Video Of The Week

It’s time for another video of the week contest! Last time out Irish post-metallers Raum Kingdom were our surprise winners, and this time around we’ve got a mixture of some big names and promising newcomers to battle it out.

First up are one of our favourite bands of 2018, the awesome Dream State. New Waves is one of the stand out tracks on their Recovery EP (read a review of that here), but the video really takes the track up a notch, really bringing the mental health aspects of the track to the fore. It’s a very simple video done incredibly well. Little wonder its racked up a few hundred thousand views in only a few weeks of being out.

Next up are some very promising newcomers! Bristol natives Rxptrs know their way around a riff or two and their new single Parasites is definitely worth your attention. They’ve gone for the classic greyscale video with a few extra little touches, which means the focus stays on the music, and when the music is this good, that isn’t really an issue!

Set to raise hell at Reading and Leeds this weekend, US metalcore bruisers Beartooth’s new track Disease is going down very well with the faithful, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it get its first live performances in the UK at Reading and Leeds. The video is something a little different for Beartooth, with some very contrasting visuals taking place. We recommend you check it out!

Taking things in an international direction next, Maltese newcomers A Broken Design have caught our attention with their new single In Pieces. With a sound sitting somewhere between Alice In Chains and groove filled stoner rock, it’s got huge potential appeal. This performance video gives the viewer a taste of what A Broken Design are like in the flesh, and we would like to see some more based on this.

Last up this week are newcomers Opia, who mark the return of ex Hacktivist man Timfy James to the metal world. Teaming up with another ex Hacktivist member, Ben Marvin, as well as Heart Of A Coward’s Vishal “V” Khetia on bass, and completed by drummer Perry Smith. Their first single is called Ascend and this is a fantastic blast of modern metal. We can’t wait to see what they do next.

The vote will close at 12pm midday UK time on Thursday the 30th of August. Five bands battling it out for your votes, so get watching and get voting!
