Papa Roach announces the release of the deluxe edition of their 11th album Ego Trip and the long-awaited release date for Ego Trip Standard Edition on vinyl. The deluxe edition features songs from the original record, which clocked over 157 million streams and also features new music and remixed tracks. The band also recently launched a new version of Cut the Line featuring Beartooth.
Lead vocalist Jacoby Shaddix says that Ego Trip has been a journey for them, “from recording the album in 2020 to having two #1 hit singles last year to adding one of our favourite bands BEARTOOTH to this track, all for the first time on our own label. These songs rip and we’re stoked to get them out there. It’s been one hell of an EGO TRIP! See what I did there!?”
The album features 20 songs in total, with 6 of those being new tracks. The album kicks off with Kill the Noise, of which Shaddix said is about how “It’s so easy to get caught up in some of that static inside your mind – we all tangle with that demon.”
One of the singles on this album, Dying to Believe brings Papa Roach back to their original nu-metal roots, going between rap rock to clean vocals in the chorus. Shaddix says that in the process of making the record they always try to make music that means something to Papa Roach. “When I look out into the world right now a lot of people are divided. The beautiful thing about music is it’s a unifier. I wanted to make a song that has some hope in it.”
The Ego Trip vinyl LP is available to buy now, in a second edition after it was initially available for November’s Black Friday Record Store Day. This worldwide release features the Standard 14-track album in unique packaging with a pop-up Ego Trip roller coaster inside the gatefold, amusement park map and 140g vinyl LP in opaque black, and is also available in ‘Translucent Purple’ for Indie Retailers, ‘Strawberry Shortcake’ from the official Papa Roach merchandise store. There will also be a ‘Yellow and Black swirl’ edition which will be exclusive to their tour.
With Papa Roach currently on the second leg of their Rockzilla Tour in the USA, Papa Roach will be joining Don Broco and Dance Gavin Dance in the UK at the end of this month, before heading out on their Cut My Heart into Pieces Australian tour in April with The Used. Followed by many festival appearances in Europe with more to be announced!
