Flint, Michigan natives King 810 have announced a brand new album. Not just any album either, but the thematic follow up to their breakthrough release La Petit Mort or a Conversation With God. The new album, La Grande Mort Or Silence Of God, is set for release on November 30th 2026.
Ten years on from La Petit Mort, King 810 are revisiting many of the topics covered on that album, but also following a natural evolution in the subject matter. Frontman David Gunn speaks on their new album in extensive detail:
“Ten years ago, we explored ‘the little death’ – a phrase the French use to describe orgasm – in a sexually charged body of work. This year, we experience the silence of God. The little death was only a rehearsal for the big death.
“The record is about two lovers and their inconceivably dark relationship. In keeping with the French, it explores the themes of folie à deux (madness shared by two) and l’amour fou (mad love) to their deepest depths. If only one didn’t have to experience these events to articulate them.
“The two individuals whose story is told in this work of non-fiction suffer from enmeshment — what happens when the boundaries between two people become so blurred that individuality starts to disappear. I also play with the idea of decalcomania — adapted from the French décalcomanie, equivalent to décalquer, ‘to transfer a tracing of,’ plus the English ‘-mania.’ Perhaps this can occur at inconceivable heights of creation, where a single soul may be imprinted on two separate individuals.”
Alongside the album announcement, King 810 have dropped a brand new single, Love Kills. It’s accompanied by a music video that starts off like a film noir story, rapidly fast forwarding to years later in glorious colour.
