Newcomers to us here at Rock Sins, South Wales outfit Strange Company have dropped their first new music in some time. Their new single, Do You Feel Numb?, explores the pain of emotion and what people will sometimes do to avoid that, even at all costs when it isn’t to their benefit. If Strange Company are new to you like they were to us, they display a great range even in this one song. Described as a mix between Thrice and That’s The Spirit era Bring Me The Horizon, we think that’s quite a good description to get you started with.

Strange Company frontman Matt Davies is able to offer quite a lot of insight into their new single, and how it almost wasn’t released:
Do You Feel Numb? is built around a line I still find hard to say out loud: “I’m scared I’m turning into everything I’ve been running from.” Spend long enough avoiding your fears and you end up giving them all your focus anyway. The person I want to become is scary too, because of everything I’d have to overcome to get there.
The song is also about chasing numbness like it’s the finish line, only to get there and find nothing waiting for you. The pain stops, but so does everything else, and what’s left just feels hollow.
DYFN? almost didn’t survive. It started as an ’80s pop-rock demo and got shelved, only getting a second chance when we all sat down together to make the decision to delete it forever but saw something special there. As we tore it apart and rebuilt it, our guitarist, Owen said something that stuck with me: the song doesn’t belong to us, we’re working in service of it. From there we dropped everything we thought we knew about the song and put weeks of work into writing it the way it deserved to be written. That’s what it took to turn it into the punchy, bleakly honest emo rager it is today.
Do You Feel Numb? is the first release by Strange Company since the release of their 2025 EP A Beginners Guide To Fading Out.
