Back in 2010, Boston’s favourite rock and roll sons Aerosmith made their first trip to Donington since the Monsters of Rock days when they headlined the closing night of that years’ Download Festival. As with their previous UK appearance at Hyde Park three years earlier, the weather for much of the day was utterly miserable, sending hordes of fans back to the shelter of their tents (though there were no tents in Hyde Park). Also just like Hyde Park, the appearance of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and co coincided with an end to the rain – what can we say – Mother Nature must be an Aerosmith fan. This year Aerosmith return to the UK for the first time since their 2010 visit to headline Download 2014, alongside their fellow Americans Avenged Sevenfold and Linkin Park, who will be playing through their iconic album Hybrid Theory in it’s entirety.
