How does a band celebrate the 25th anniversary of their rather excellent debut album which took the rock world by storm the first time around? In this case by releasing a deluxe edition and by spending some time with their fans which sounds like a pretty good way to us!
Scottish hard rock outfit Gun are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Taking On The World album which won critical and fan acclaim by holding a signing at HMV’s Glasgow Argyle Street store at 5pm tomorrow (October 27th 2014). Gun will also be playing a selection of songs live in a very exclusive in-store performance!
Gun’s singer Dante has had this to say about the huge milestone for their debut album:
“It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since we recorded ‘Taking On The World’ in Park Lane Studios. Like all bands that first start out recording their debut album we had no inhibitions, not needing to worry about retaining any level of success as we hadn’t been there before, we just wanted to record an album that WE wanted to make. I’m so proud of what we achieved with that album and just so happy that it’s been given a proper re-release.”
Gun are holding a three night residency at Glasgow’s legendary King Tuts venue on the 9th, 10th and 11th of November 2014. Each night will see the band play one of their classic albums, Taking On The World, Gallus and Swagger in it’s entirety plus a selection of previously unheard material from the new Gun album which will be released in 2015.
So if you’re in Glasgow or in the Glasgow region, come along to HMV Argyle Street tomorrow and spend some time with one of Scotland’s finest rock exports. You don’t get into Classic Rock’s “150 Greatest Debut Albums Of All Time” for no reason after all!
