As we get closer and closer to the 2024 Download Festival, the more announcements keep coming out of Download HQ! The latest one concerns entertainment for those who have shelled out for the various forms of RIP camping.
It has been a tradition for a number of years now that those in RIP get some exclusive entertainment, and in 2024 this tradition will continue. Across both the Wednesday and Thursday of Download 2024, The Courtyard Stage is returning to RIP in Park Farm with over a dozen bands for those who are shelling out for deluxe camping (or RIP’s various other formats) to enjoy.
Among the immediate stand outs for fans to notice is the appearance of Palm Reader. The UK underground metal favourites are calling it quits next month, but have added a very special appearance in RIP to their limited remaining schedule. Worth getting to the festival early just to see them alone, Palm Reader are joined by a wide range of other bands Wednesday. This includes crossover thrashers Pest Control and melodic metalcore outfit TheCityIsOurs. Post-hardcore genre benders Lastelle also make an appearance, alongside punk rocker Bex. Overpower provide more thrash, while Glasgow natives ZOLA will kick things off on Wednesday.
Thursday has an equal amount of treats in store. Our good friends and one of the finest bands in UK metal, URNE, headline proceedings in RIP Thursday. Joining them are alt-rockers Mouth Culture and London “throwback rockers” DeVere. Also heading to RIP are skate thrashers Negative Frame, female punk trio iDestroy and US punks The Last Gang. First up musically are Neckbreakers, while the day kicks off with a live edition of the Dear Download Podcast.
