Bloodstock Open Air has announced three more bands for next August’s annual mosh-fest in Derbyshire. US prog metallers Symphony X (pictured) – making an exclusive UK festival appearance – join Sunday, with Slayer topping that bill. Fellow Americans, industrial metal legends, Fear Factory will hit the Ronnie James Dio Stage on Saturday, headlined by Mastodon.

British classic thrashers Acid Reign will headline Saturday night on the Sophie Lancaster Stage, and frontman Howard Smith said he is excited about returning to Catton Hall, this time with his band:

I played it in 2012 as a comedian, did a guest spot with Re-Animator last year and all that has served to make me even more keen to finally tread those hallowed boards ‘for real’. It’s things like this that make being in a band worth while! This is the big one, see you there!”

For those who want better toilets, plusher camping grounds and access to the notorious Serpents Lair backstage bar VIP ticket packages go on sale from Wednesday 16th December. There is a limited number and they sell out every year – so get in quick!

It’s also the last chance to buy Early Bird tickets for £120 (plus booking fee) – they will be taken off sale from midnight tonight, Tuesday!

Bloodstock Open Air 2016 takes place from Thursday 11th August to Sunday 14th August at Catton Hall, Derbyshire. Other bands confirmed so far include Twisted Sister, Behemoth, Anthrax, Paradise Lost and many more.

Full details about ticket packages, including VIP options, can be found at bloodstock.uk.com. The festival is also on Facebook and Twitter.
